A Powell Cousin

11 Oct

My wife and I had a wonderful trip to Maine last month to visit our grandson at Bates College. During that trip we took the ferry to Vinalhaven Island to visit a Powell cousin who spends the summer on the island.  What a pleasant stop . The ferry ride is about 1 hour and 15 minutes through waters that are teeming with lobster pots and buoys. She filled me in on many of my other St. Louis cousins. After that we spent 2 days and nights with my college roommate and his wife. They have remodeled her grandfathers house that was built in the 1860’s.

It seemed like there were so many cemeteries in Maine. Then I remembered that the eastern seaboard was inhabited 200 years before our more western lands. At least by Europeans.
